Prairie Grove Pond Cleanout Job

Pond Cleanouts x Landscaping

Restoring a Backyard Pond With First-Class Landscaping and Hardscaping

As we said in the introduction, the Fay-Ark Lawn Co. team has done just about every kind of landscaping and hardscaping job you can think of. In one of our most recent projects, we had to fully restore a pond and its surrounding area back to its former glory.

These are the main actions we took to accomplish the incredible makeover you can see in the photos across this page. If they encourage you to get in touch with our crew for pond cleanouts and landscaping in Prairie Grove, you can do so at any time during our regular business hours.

1. We Removed 15 Willow Trees From the Property

The first task involved with this project was to remove 15 willow trees from the property that were not in the best health or condition. This helped immensely to open up the space around our client's pond and create a much better view of the water. With the trees hauled off of the property and disposed of in an environmentally friendly way, we could start the central part of the job.

2. We Excavated 263 Loads of Dirt From the Existing Pond

Next, it was time to work on the pond itself. This begins by fully draining the pond and preserving the wildlife elsewhere in the meantime. We then started the dirty work of excavating a whopping 263 loads of dirt out of the pond!

Over time, dirt naturally begins to accumulate on top of the clay that is often the foundation for many residential ponds. This can contribute to unclear water and other minor annoyances. However, this excavation was also crucial to expanding and redefining the boundaries of the pond.

Of course, we wrapped up this portion of the project by hauling away all of the dirt (as well as the other excavated materials that we'll talk about next).

3. We Scraped the Pond Down to the Existing Clay

Following the excavation, we scraped the pond down to the existing clay beneath. This can help clear out unwanted algae, soil, and underwater vegetation. Why else is this necessary, you may ask? Well, it primes the lake for what comes next.

4. We Brought In and Placed 10 Loads of New Clay

The final part of this project was to haul in about ten loads of brand-new clay. This clay was then used to expand upon and support the current clay foundation of the pond. Then, the job was complete once the water and wildlife were returned to the newly restored pond!

This process, commonly known as pond dredging, is typically done every three to five years to appropriately deal with unwanted sediment buildup and water quality issues.
