East Fayetteville Retaining Wall Job

1. We Fully Demolished a Failing Wall

​

Sometimes, tearing things down is the only way to build them back up again the right way. And that's how this recent project in East Fayetteville began. The retaining wall on our client's property had begun to accumulate problem after problem over the years. Though their rock and stone construction can last for a long time, they eventually encounter structural integrity issues. Oftentimes, this is a result of poor drainage.

Poor drainage can cause a number of challenging issues, such as:

 

• Structural degradation

• Soil erosion

• Shifts in wall settlement

• Hydrostatic pressure buildups

 

And in this case, our client's retaining wall was experiencing a number of these issues. So, the only thing to do was take the proper precautions and demolish the entire thing!

2. We Designed a New Wall With Better Drainage

​

Then, starting practically from scratch, we redesigned the retaining wall. This time, the wall would have far better water drainage and a sounder structure to ensure that it could last much longer than the previous wall. This included integrating features such as drains, pipes, geotextile fabrics, and other water drainage solutions.

 

We also handled a bit of land grading to ensure that the slope of the landscape helped to move water away from the wall naturally. As you can see—especially if you've perused our other pages—improper water drainage is one of the most common problems that residential landscapes can encounter. So, with the new wall fully fleshed out and designed, it was time to get building!

3. We Installed The New Wall Onto the Property

​

With the old wall torn down and hauled off to be disposed of in an eco-friendly manner, we started constructing our client's new retaining wall. Using only the highest-quality materials and construction techniques, our crew here at Fay-Ark Lawn Co. was able to handle the job with ease.
